We couldn’t have asked for a better day for the 10th Annual Great Grill Off. The forecasted storms stayed away, and we had amazing weather to welcome 14 community grill teams and over 1,300 guests to the Wooster campus of Christian Children’s Home of Ohio for the big event. It was our biggest competition yet as the teams competed to win over the tastebuds and votes of the crowd with their mouthwatering sliders.
The campus was filled with smiles as family and friends enjoyed inflatables, carnival games, train rides, tractor rides, and more. The energy was high, and everyone was enjoying an afternoon of great food and family fun!
At the conclusion of the event, the votes were tallied and Lyfe Choices was crowned the 2022 Burger Champion with their “3 Little Pigs Burger”. CCHO’s In IT to Win IT team took second place with their “TeraByte Burger” and third place was a tie between Cutler Real Estate’s “Brie-ing You Home Burger” and Bullseye’s Axe Throwing/Luxury Auto Detailing’s “Bullseye’s Bad-Axe BBQ Burger”. Congratulations and thank you to all our grill teams for their hard work and dedication.
As you can imagine, it takes a large team to bring this event together. Our day was a huge success due to the support of our generous sponsors and dedicated volunteers who helped us throughout the weekend. Special thanks to our event sponsors Powers Oil & Propane, Church of the Lakes, Coblentz Bros., Inc, The Wooster Brush Company, Mennonite Mutual Insurance, The Commercial & Savings Bank, and Village Catering Company; Tri-Village Christian Church and Parkview Christian Church in Findlay, OH for providing volunteers before and during the event; Mohican Church of the Brethren and Putt-N-Stuff for providing tents; Frito-Lay for providing chips; Wayne Homes for providing water; Wayne County Sheriff’s Office; Central Fire/EMS Department; and to our numerous day-of volunteers and all our grill teams!
Thank you for joining us for delicious food and for your donations to help hurting boys and girls experience safety, connection, and healing. Remember, it’s not just about the burgers, it’s about our awesome kids!

Our 10th Annual Great Grill Off will take place on Sunday, June 12 from 12:30-3:30pm on the CCHO campus. Our talented community grill teams will attempt to win over your tastebuds and your vote with mouthwatering “specialty burger” slider creations in our burger competition. As the event gets closer, we’ll reveal the teams and their recipes.
Come enjoy picnic classics like hamburgers, hot dogs, pasta salad, chips, ice cream, and more. Bring the kids for carnival games, bounce houses, hayrides, plus many other fun activities. Limited seating will be available so feel free to bring your own blankets and/or lawn chairs.
The Great Grill Off is a free community event for the whole family. Donations of any size at the gate are always appreciated. Your support helps a child feel safe, often for the very first time, and receive trauma care in our children’s residential center.
