It was wonderful to see all of you for the Ninth Annual Great Grill Off. Thank you for joining us for delicious food and to help hurting girls and boys experience safety, connection and healing. We appreciate your enthusiasm for amazing burgers as well as your heart to see youth experience their worth in Christ.
After a year apart, this day was extra special. Our 12 community grill teams, including seven rookie teams, impressed the crowd of 850+ guests with their tasty creations and warm hospitality. It was our most intense (and yummy!) competition yet as the teams competed for guest votes, best burger bragging rights and a super trophy. It was also a joy to see smiling faces of kids playing games, families taking tractor rides and everyone enjoying ice cream.
At 3pm the votes were tallied, and Cutler Real Estate was crowned the 2021 Burger Champion with their “Whisk Me Home” Burger. Second place was awarded to The Leaf Restaurant. Wooster Christian School received third place recognition. Congratulations to all of our teams for their dedication to making outstanding food as well as their compassion for youth with trauma.
The thank-you list is long and noteworthy. It takes a large team to bring this event together. Special thanks to our event sponsors United Titanium, PNC Bank, Powers Oil & Propane, Church of the Lakes; Tri-Village Christian Church and American Heritage Girls for providing volunteers before and during the event; Mohican Church of the Brethren and Putt-N-Stuff for providing tents; Village Catering for providing pasta salad; Frito-Lay for providing chips; Hartzler Dairy for providing ice cream; The Pines Golf Club and Restaurant for providing golf carts; Sterling Farm Equipment for providing a Kubota; Kimble Company for providing trash cans; Central Fire/EMS Dept.; and to our numerous day-of volunteers and all our grill teams!
We hope to see you back next year at Christian Children’s Home of Ohio as we celebrate our 10th annual event. Save the date for the second Sunday in June — Sunday, June 12, 2022.

We’re thrilled to share that the Great Grill Off returns to the Christian Children’s Home of Ohio campus in Wooster on Sunday, June 13, 12:30-3:30pm. The competition for best burger continues at our 9th annual event. Community grill teams will attempt to win over your tastebuds and your vote with scrumptious slider creations. As the event gets closer, we’ll reveal the teams and their recipes.
We’re keeping your health in mind by spacing out food lines and eating areas. Limited seating will be available so feel free to bring your own blankets and/or lawn chairs. We’re also changing up some of our children’s activities to bring you the most fun in a safe way.
The Great Grill Off is a free community event for the whole family. Donations of any size at the gate are always appreciated. Your support helps a child feel safe, often for the very first time, and receive trauma care in our children’s residential center.
We’re excited to see all of you as a guest or considering serving as an event volunteer.
